More info

The hydraulic system includes high pressure and high flushing rates and, as a consequence, the system is worn, which causes the particles to move freely around it. These particles then accelerate the wear of machine parts, valves and gaskets as well as energy loss. A solution to all of these problems is to install a cleaner onto certain lines of the system.

In hydraulic systems, filter cartridges are most commonly installed on suction, pressure and return lines. Depending on the purpose of the application, several cleaners can be installed simultaneously. These cleaners are manufactured mainly for pre-existing hydraulic housings, and thus their external sizes can vary greatly. They are also different in terms of their external shapes, which depends on how the cleaner is installed in the housing. A high-quality hydraulic cleaner will attract as many impurities as possible (high β-factor), have a low filtration rate and optimum flowability. A hydraulic cartridge of the same size can include several different membranes installed, which can be made of mesh, paper or glass fibres. The elimination level of the filter must be as high as possible, which means that it is capable of extracting from hydraulic liquid the maximum percentage of particles belonging to the size category of a given filter fineness or greater. For a good filtration process, it is necessary to have clean hydraulic oil in addition to high-quality cleaner in the system, which should be well-maintained.

A hydraulic filter or a lubricating oil filter consists of the housing designed for expected pressures or the negative pressure. The housing can also be designed as a threaded cartridge, which makes it particularly easy to replace the filter. The tightening filter in the form of a cartridge is very commonly used in the field of low pressure. Some manufacturers also manufacture threaded cartridges for medium pressure areas (Donaldson Duramax hydraulic filters).

Hydraulic components have to be protected

Liquid circuits are of different shapes and sizes, their design can be simple or very complex, and all of them need to be protected against harmful dirt. Abrasive particles enter the system and damage the sensitive components, such as pumps, valves and motors, if not properly removed. The purpose of the hydraulic filter is to remove these particles from the oil in circulation, in order to prevent the premature wear of the components and the system failure. Hydraulic systems are becoming increasingly complex, which is why a reliable filtering protection is so important.

Types of contaminants

The hydraulic fluid my contain many different types of contaminants:

  • particles (dust, dirt, sand, rust, fibres, elastomers, paint chips)
  • metal particles, silicone and additives (aluminum, chrome, copper, iron, lead, tin, silicon, sodium, zinc, barium, phosphorus)
  • condensed water
  • seals (Teflon® tape, lubricants)
  • mud, oxidation and other rusty particles
  • acids and other chemicals
  • biological particles, microbes (in liquids with a high proportion of water)

In our company, we make sure that you extend the life of hydraulic components with proper filtration and we can offer all the alternatives for your current hydraulic cartridges.

Our company manufactures the following types of hydraulic cleaner cartridge:

  • low-pressure hydraulic filters
  • high-pressure hydraulic filters
  • reverse hydraulic filters
  • suction hydraulic filters
  • filters made of wire-knitted fabrics from stainless materials for especially fine filtration, even at high temperatures

Bypass filtering devices

Over the years, PRIMA Filtertehnika d.o.o. has developed several filtering devices for by-pass filtration, which helps to take good care of hydraulic devices and lubricating oils. The user thus receives a filter unit (mobile or stable-mounted), which can complete almost all filtration tasks in the hydraulics and the lubricating oil area. Our offer includes units of the following capacities: 40 L/min, 80 L/min and 120 L/min. It should be noted that all these units eliminate unbound condensed water up to 100%, completely mechanically.

Our product range also includes mobile filtering devices by Filtrec.

Due to the large pre-filter capacities, all sludges collected at the bottom of the hydraulic reservoir or at the bottom of the lubricating oil collector can be sucked out and filtered.

Exhaust filters

Too little attention is usually devoted to these filters. It should be borne in mind that through the very”breathing” of the oil reservoir, a lot of impurities can enter it.

If the oil or filter fluid is removed from the reservoir, atmospheric levelling air flows in. This draws in from the environment the dust floating in the air and moisture, which is deposited as condensed water. For the exhaust filter it is, therefore, absolutely necessary to use at least the same fineness as the highest quality filter installed in the system. The exhaust filter provides the ability to effectively protect hydraulic fluid or oil against external pollution.

Special combinations with exhaust filters:

The exhaust filters used in mobile hydraulics can be fitted with valves that will effectively prevent the draining of hydraulic fluid in extreme off-road driving or in the event of an accident.

For larger quantities of oil used in industry exhaust filters can be equipped with air-drying granules that effectively dry the flowing air and in this way prevent the formation of condensed water.

Servicing of oil systems

Our company can also provide you with servicing when it comes to care and maintenance of oil systems. We ensure clean oil for your carefree sleep in three stages:

  • Stage 1: Determining the state of the oil – We offer the Trend of oil purity control directly on the machines themselves, laboratory oil controls in independent laboratories and consulting in the field of care and maintenance of oil. Before moving to the second stage, the customer is advised to change all filters, clean the tanks and continue to service the existing oil, if appropriate for further use.
  • Stage 2: Performing a high-quality oil servicing, whereby the oil system is cleaned by installing filter systems that will also work during the operation of the machine. The devices operate for as long as the oil and the system are not clean to the extent recommended by the manufacturers of each of the components. All work carried out is documented with reports and results.
  • Stage 3: We offer continuous control of impurities or a regular inspection of the state of the oil. We can also upgrade the system of continuous oil servicing, if so requested by the customer.
